Short Description:
Reproductive function in the domestic dog (Canis familiaris) remains still not fully
elucidated. Thus, considering the high importance of the dog to veterinary medicine, its
role as laboratory animal, but also as one of the most important pets, efforts need to be
put to better understand canine reproductive physiology. Consequently, our group
investigates the molecular and endocrine mechanisms involved in the onset, maintenance
and termination of canine pregnancy.
The main goal of this work is to investigate the expression and role of placental relaxins
during maintenance of canine gestation, as well as the endocrine pathways involved in
prepartum PGF2α release in dogs.
Requirements
Highly motivated graduate students, interested in reproductive endocrinology, preferably
possessing a vet-med degree, are welcomed to apply for this position. Previous
experience in molecular and/or cell biology methods is welcomed but not mandatory.
Salary will be in accordance with the guidelines of the Swiss National Science
Foundation and is assured for the period of 3 years.
